Not only was this wedding in Kelowna at the gorgeous location of the Harvest Golf Club, but it was on the unique and rare day of Friday the 13th!
The day started with Ericka getting ready at her aunts – her family were there creating a happy atmosphere and her best friends and sister helped her get into her dress. Of course her mother was doing what mothers do, and helping with last minute ironing! From there we traveled to the golf club for her and Brett’s ‘first look.’ I think everyone watching was teary eyed watching her descend down the balcony stairway to meet Brett, who looked speechless. She was beautiful in her dress, (it had orange laces!) and he looked stunning in his suit and matching orange tie.
The ceremony was held outdoors (in October!) with a gorgeous backdrop of the mountains and gardens. There were roses in bloom! Of course all rain stopped just in time for the ceremony, and that set the tone for the rest of the night – fun and beautiful and relaxed. A ‘ring warming’ took place during the ceremony – each guest passed along a velvet bag of their wedding rings to hold, and place their wishes on before the rings were exchanged.
A few amazing touches on their wedding made it totally unique – a brilliant breakfast instead of dinner (waffles, bacon, eggs) was a nod to honour their favorite time to spend together and their first date. Decor was simple because the location had its own beauty – seasonal pumpkins and candles gave a pop of orange – and a crazy riot of colour made up their candy buffet for dessert. It was about Ericka & Brett and their family there to support them, and it was wonderful.
Congratulations to Ericka & Brett on their fabulous wedding! I wish you happiness and a future full of laughter and love. 🙂
